in my opinion.

1.  Pac10 isnt the best conference

2.  East Coast Bias-west coast teams dont get the pub that east coasters do

3.  locked into a Pac16 deal, schools cant negotiate their own deals.

A&M is smart to lobby for SEC.  much better move.

You're right the pac 10 is not the best conference.  The pac 16 arguably will be though.

Yeah-like publicity is going to be a problem for the new PAC16. I couldnt disagree more. Texas will be the strongest program in the PAC16 and competing for a title every year. It wouldnt be that way in an expanded SEC. Texas A&M is irrelevant in either the PAC16 or SEC so who really cares what they do

you must have forgotten its all about money.  for the four schools there is more to be made in SEC country than LA.  PAC16 vs 16 team SEC?  SEC all day.  And Tex will be the strongest team in a new SEC west anyways, travel less, less travel for fans, etc stc

I don't think so

If the Texas schools jumped to the Pac-11 that would give the new Pa-16 a lot of the top TV markets in the country with Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco...In the 21st Century college football is all about the TV revenue.

This is the same reason I think the RU => Big 10 is not a sure thing.  If the Big East could pull some top Big 12 leftovers, the city/market coverage of the combined new BE would be huge.  No way Rutgers leaves a conference that big.

The new conference could also form their own new semi-pro basketball division above IA.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
