Ohio is the perfect place for Solich.  They traditionally ran the wishbone and have had an offense similar to that of the old Nebraska offense.  Could Ohio U become a major power in the MAC, we shall see.

You guys have no idea how pumped I am. Trust me, Solich will be making considerably more than our last coach once his buyout from Nebraska ends (we are letting them pay the way the first two years, so we get off cheaply)... I was in denial through the week of rumours, but now it appears he's coming here.

We haven't run the traditional wishbone since about 1998, but we did have an option attack offense until this past year, when we switched, miserably, to a spread run-and-gun offense. I don't know what Solich will install, but he spent the last year studying coaching at places like Oklahoma so I'm pretty confident he'll be awesome.

I canceled my season tickets when I moved down here. I'll be calling to renew them today.

Frank was railroaded at NE.  If the AD would of given him one more yr withthe new DC, Pelini, NE would of won the Big12 North with a 5-3 conference record and the the loss to USM would not have happened.  I'm guessing Frank wooda had a 7-4 or 8-3 record in 2004.

I was surprised. Solich is a big name hire. To a struggling football program like Ohio, that should generate some interest among fans, and a .753 winning percentage playing in the Big XII may not be good enough for Nebraska, but it's good enough for a lot of other schools, including OU.

Great hire for them. I think Solich will make them competitive right away. And it's nice to see that a few teams still want to run the option.
