Does potential BE expansion solve our scheduling problems?

Ideally in my opinion we would add a ninth football team to the Big East over the next few years which would make scheduling easier (4 home games, 4 away games in the conference). The Big Ten will probably try to add a team to their conference soon, and as far as I've heard it could be a BE team (Rutgers, Syracuse, or Pitt). Either way it seems that the Big East will look to other conferences as well. Any thoughts about what programs the BE should target?

I personally would not mind UCF, Memphis, or ECU. Either one of those schools bring positives and negatives. I think UCF would be great in the fact that USF fans will have an close road game to travel to. ECU has a good fan base that helps with bowl games. Memphis has that basketball, and the potential to bring in the Liberty Bowl.

Personally I'd like to see any combination of the following two: Navy, Memphis,Temple, Southern Miss, ECU, or go after Boston College or Maryland in the ACC.

Might, but the problem is money and the amounts teams want to play a single away game. That was why we had all those 1aa teams least year.

I'm moving to the Big East board.  There are other threads on this topic over there.

Because the Big East has an uneven schedule of four home games one year and three the next, it pretty much forces schools to play a 1-AA team in order to get at least six home games. So, that problem would be resolved with the addition of a 9th team. To get a seven game home schedule every year most Big East teams would still require a 1-AA game, because of the amounts now demanded by non-BCS schools for a pay game. USF is in a somewhat better position because it has one of the larger stadiums in the conference, but we still don't have a large enough season ticket base to pay out what WVU can whch has 10,000 more season ticket holders.

I know these are not exactly geographic fits, but what about TCU and Houston? These are teams that would draw more respect than some of the teams mentioned here.

Obviously, a 9th team would help with scheduling.  Heck, because of the 12 game schedule, the Big Ten was flirting with the idea of playing 10 conference games.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
