Why is the Pitt spread only 7 pts?

Can someone explain to me why we are only 7 pt (well I guess 10 if you figure in the 3pt 'home advantage') underdogs to Pitt?

Pitt can make a BCS bowl with a win.

USF can't hit a toilet bowl with it's QBing.

I don't get it. I would have guessed at least 14pts.

Well, since we previously beat them when we were 24 point underdogs, maybe they don't want to take a chance this time. After all, we were 3 1/2 point favorites to beat them at the beginning of the year.

It's because Pitt does not want to embarass a future conference team.  The BE doesnt need any teams that look embarassing right now.

All very nice thoughts, but Pitt does not make the spread, Vegas does.  The reason is simple, neither team is playing for anything.  No matter what Pitt does, they are headed to a BCS bowl, no matter what USF does, they are not headed anywhere.

Pitt will do what they need to win and no more.

USF plays hard in it last game of the season so I fig that Vegas thinks the same will happen this year
