Would it end in "off"?

They have their football tv contract and dont have to share the profits.  They pretty much choose if they want to go to a bowl game or not.  You tell em to join or else, it goes straight to or else. Why even ask?

Get Comcast (who is buying nbc) to ditch the contract and then we can start this thread over

Neither ND nor the League are ever going to change the status quo. The only way it'll happen is if the league gets raided again, or loses the BCS autobid, or some other such catastrophe.

:deadhorse

We will get raided this off season or next... the Big 10 has its eyes on Rutgers or Cuse...

My point is that the Big East should kick out the non football sports of Notre Dame.

ET you bring this up every year. In a nice world they would do it, but it's not happening.

The reality is Notre Dame is one of the top academic schools in the country with a recgonizable name that makes a ******** of money for the conference.

The Big East just isn't walking away from Notre Dame because they won't join for football.

They're not stupid...They know what ND brings to the table outweighs what their replacement would.

Tell them they need to join in football after their NBC contract or leave the conference in all sports.

Need decision this Spring.

If this is so, then why don't they(Notre Dame) go solo in these sports also ?

Or why doesn't another conference try for them to join their conference ?

ET you are right on. I agree 100%. You tell ND to either join in football or get lost with all other sports. They can't have their cake and...

The Big 10 should hold firm in this as well. If we kick them out and the Big 10 says no, unless a football affiliation is required, then what do they do?

Simple ET,

it's a lot harder to schedule 30+ basketball games than 12 football games...years in advance.

I don't agree with ND's stranglehold, but it's like complaining about the BCS...makes too much money so it's going nowhere

I just don't see any hard evidence of the money Notre Dame brings.

Big East needs to do something about our "split" sports ... does another conference have non-football teams ?
