I don't really think they burned anything.  If Notre Dame called up the Big 10 right now, the Big 10 would get on its knees for ND.

Any conference would be on its knees for ND, even the SEC.

They won't join. When I mess around drawing up conf realign plans, I leave ND out. I'd make their stipulation that they have to play at least 7-8 BCS schools every year, and go 9-3 or better to reach the BCS, lol.

Neither ND nor the League are ever going to change the status quo. The only way it'll happen is if the league gets raided again, or loses the BCS autobid, or some other such catastrophe.

I'm not saying ND would join, but if we make such a threat, we need to be ready to exercise the "or else" option. Unlike the offers that currently stand to them from the B11, they actually stand to lose something by losing association with the Big East. Lose us in all other sports and scheduling becomes a BIG problem, not to mention I don't know what the path to the NCAA tournament would be for an all-sport independent. Scheduling woes and SoS questions already met them this past season when they went undefeated in men's lacrosse, and that was in a conference, though they should be helped greatly now in the Big East. Their baseball and men's and women's soccer teams could be in trouble as well.
