Does anyone know if this is true?

If so, I do not think it's a good idea.  Why not try to affiliate with a BCS conference like the Pac 10?

It's from Bleacher Report. That tells you right there that the story is at least 90% crap, and probably 100%.

BE would be nuts to do this.

I think this article (I didnt read much) is under the assumption that BE losses Pitt/RU/Cuse and then its BCS tag when it renews. The only way this happens is if the BCS says the only way you get an auto bid is if you play the MWC for it.... I just cant picture this happening in real life.

The Big East is one of 2 BCS Conferences (PAC 10 being the other) who play the season the way it should be played. You play every in the league one time and that is the best way to determine your league champion.

It may be how it should be played, but times have changed. Even the PAC 10 is now considering going to 12 teams so they won't be left out of the extra championship game. At least, the PAC 10 will probably not look to raid the Big East for teams. :)
