Cards accept Liberty Bowl Bid, Other News & Notes

Shortly after an impressive, blowout win over Cincinnati to retain possession of the Keg of Nails trophy, the University of Louisville accepted a bid to play in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis on Dec. 31. Despite having a game left with Tulane next Saturday, the win over the Bearcats clinched sole ownership of the Conference USA Championship for the Cards.

 

For U of L, the bid marks the seventh straight season the Cardinals have been to a Bowl game. A Liberty Bowl official said the Cards' opponent will likely be Boise State, pointing out that Utah looks as if it will take a BCS Bowl Bid while also saying Notre Dame is "off the table" right now because of contractual agreements with the Big East.

It's a shame they let that Miami game slip away, or they might be playing for a National Championship.
