Omni is right -- the defense needs to get its share of the blame here. You look at the long TD runs by DeAngelo Williams today and you'll see bad angles and missed tackles. The defense needs to re-focus on fundamentals, and the offense/QB position need to be re-thought altogether.

The secondary is just bad and too young right now. We have guys playing that should not be playing right now due to injury or talent. If you guys want to continue to call out Verpaele then you better start calling out Gipson, Trae William, Jenkins and Camon. Those guys did not do well at all. I applaud Camon for making that TD saving tackle early in the game on Williams, but I continue to see him make bad routes to the play. Gibson, there was no excuse for not trying to tackle Williams better on that big play. Jenkins, he never could find were the ball was which gave him no chance at defending the catch for the WRS. Trae Williams, he has been a lost cause since the South Carolina game. There, I called the others out on the secondary for you USF fans because it seems like you point the finger at Verpaele too much.

I am sick after what I saw today:

1) Two forth & 1s. Hand or pitch beck to half back 4 yards deep. No 1st down!

2) Score TD, Oh wait... someone called Time out!

3) Score TD and SJ Green gets a personal foul fowl after play!

4) Memphis ran Williams 4 straight times in the same play. TD!

5) Memphis must have watched the Army tape!

6) Missed field goal from the 5.

Actually it looked like they converted all but two third downs. I think that after making the score 16-7 our defense layed down.

What is with the time outs. Does Leavitt have to use them by the "middle" of each half?

Fire Hobbie......

Not one "slant"

Not one throw accross the middle until the 3rd qtr.

PJ runs the "veer" well. Not in the 2nd half!

I am way passed pissed. I am already to depressed. I am having trouble putting together coherent  sentences.

****!

BB2000, I'd like to add the DBs take terrible tackling angles too.

BullDoug,

I agree. The DBs have been getting schooled all season long. I still dont know why teams want to run against USF because we cant stop the pass anymore. Last season, it was getting bad, but this season is way worse. Hell, this USF secondary made the South Carlina's backup QB look like an ALL American. I dont put any blame on the defensive line because there is only so much they can do right now. It is just bad when the QB can take one step back and find at least two open WRs.  Blame Verpaele all you want, but it is the  DBs job to cover or at least break up the pass.

Brahman - you are correct the whole secondary has been horrible.  I gave up on calling out Gipbson a long time ago.  The best thing about this season is that it is his last.  Williams, as I said at the beginning of the season has no business on defense, he would be playing offense.  Jenkins really puzzles me.  He had some great coverage early in the year and then disappeared.  I think he'd make a better safety than a CB.
