What you're not getting is there is a happy medium between selling tickets and filling hotel rooms/restaurants.  That is why they will have one local team within a couple hours driving distance to fulfill the need to sell tickets, and they will have a team further away to fulfill the hotel/restaurant need.

Unless its WVU the most Rutgers or UConn will bring to a crappy bowl game with virtually no festivities will be at best 3,000 to at the most 5,000... Memphis I believe only brought barely around 2,000.

Bull94 is 100% right... besides the trade winds (which is the official hotel where the visitors stay) there is zero community interaction between the Bowl and the hotels.... ESPN owns this and can do what they want, and what they want is money which they will only make with a big match up... ESPN makes money on this bowl game in two ways... tickets and tv ads sold.

Who will sell more tickets and tv ads?

Rutgers vs. UCF < USF vs. UCF

Well so far you are half right. UCF is confirmed. I think this now guarantees we won't be in St. Pete.

Kinda sucks for the Big East team that gets selected.  The C-USA team (i.e. UCF) has an entire week to buy ticket for best available seating a week before the B.E. knows who's gonna go.

Tickets are set aside for the Big East team that UCF cannot touch.

Guest nybullsfan

the way he keeps pushing the issue, I think bull94 must be a ucf fan in disguise, hoping for a rematch

ucf accepting the spb just guaranteed that usf will not go to sp

pj here we come! time to start making bham reservations

imo this is wrong...

a Rutgers UCF matchup would bring in much more tv revenue... Rutgers catches the NYC market

Agree completely. And as far as how many travel, I would bet on Rutgers putting 10k in the seats. 70-75 degree weather the week before christmas, with a Rutgers football game. I would hope Rutgers fans take advantage of it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
