i don't think BJD is a very good QB right now.

he is a great talent and a great runner but he simply can't read defenses and is lacking accuracy right now.

he throws with a lot of power but he still needs a LOT of development

After the last 6 wks, I'm starting to wonder if BJ can be a Big East QB...

As pointed out, he can't read a D...Runs first and throws last...And doesn't seem to own up to his own inadequacies and blames all those around him.

He better take a break on basketball to help work on this, or we are all in for some rough times

He's got a lot to work on but his physical tools are off the charts.  I really hope Heath sits down with him and pretty much tells him "You have no future as a contributor on this team outside of another body in practice, Im not going to take your chance away but the talent level has moved past your potential as a basketball player.  If you want to be a practice contributor you are more than welcome to stay but I don't see you getting any meaningful minutes during the games".  It's time for him to grow up and realize he's BJ Daniels and not Charlie Ward and that being a good Div 1 QB is a full time job.   The stuff like seeing the whole field (especially intermediate routes) and being patient in the pocket come with time but that time becomes limited when he is riding the pine on the basketball team.

if we can get someone in here who can develop him as a true QB then he'll be alright...

if not

you need to open up camp competition...

Daniels, Landi, Carnes

Plus 8 for 21 against FSU.  He just happened to hit a couple of long ones.

He wasn't that great against Syracuse either.  He only completed 12 passes.

He does not have a run first pass second mentality at all.  If anything he gets in trouble because he thinks he can make the spectacular play by scrambling out of trouble and looks to pass.  Like all young QBs he needs to understand what the difference is in taking a small loss or throwing the ball away and taking huge losses like he has done a few times this year.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
