Not to be too semantic, yes this could be a program changing win (combined with FSU) -- however the actual moment of "arrival" would be a few years later. Once you "arrive" it means you had what it takes to put that team together a few years prior -- so this is the kind of thing which lays the groundwork for a title.

As for who is recruiting better -- has anyone ever seen a study of how well those star rankings predict success? I don't have a lot of time but I just checked how they ranked Cincinnati over the past few years:

2006: 102nd.

2007: 89th.

2008: 67th.

We were ahead of them every year.

You'd obviously need to do more but generally, as a rule, I feel like all speculation on recruits (and for that matter draft picks) is absolute garbage. So I wouldn't get too worried about how they rank our recruits. Could we be better? Of course. But the rankings are borderline meaningless.

Just checked another: Notre Dame were 8th in 06; 8th in 07; 2nd in 08.

it is troublesome usf isnt recruiting better

this has always been a weak spot along with special teams

it takes a dynamic saleman with confidence and a giant ego to recruit.leavitt will never allow that type of coach on his staff

those recruiting rankings are a bit off.

USF has 9 or 10 commits and the others already have 17+ commits. USF will end up with another top 30 recruiting clasTishais year.

Just checked another: Notre Dame were 8th in 06; 8th in 07; 2nd in 08.

But Notre Dame is great, has gone undefeated for 15 straight years, is the unanimous choice at #1 ahead of the gators, would knock off the Colts and the Saints (on the same day), etc. etc.

Or, not so much!!!!

It would be a huge win and certainly could help out alot on the recruiting trail but we still have a long long ways to go before we make a true big 4.  Also Allen Wallace is right FSU and UM still recruit at a different tier than we do.  Yes we got Webster, Giddins, and Barrington but those other schools land a dozen or more kids that are that kind of difference maker year in and year out (also part of the reason why webster flipped is that UM wasn't giving him the love he felt he deserved, so some would say he wasn't a huge priority to UM).  We are closing the gap and  win this weekend would really be a step in the right direction just like the FSU win, but we have a long ways to go before we truly get on a big 4 level.  Consistently beating big 3 programs and winning the BE consistently are what get us to where we want to be and we have taken the first step in that direction but we aren't at the big boy table yet.

Andrea is a really good friend of mine and a USF supporter.

Take some ******* criticism people, it's not like she said we'll never be anything, her point is it's NOT happening over night.

Some times, I swer people on this board have such a bad case of  small **** syndrome that ANY sort of criticism is an immediate **** at everything we've done.

I'm sick of people ripping on people for their opinions. Andrea has worked very hard to get where she is, and has continued to work with a year old kid.

Take it easy...

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
