usf needs to make it attractive for miami

we need them they dont need us

10 year deal 6 in miami 4 in tampa--i am sure they would go for that

usf needs to get away from scheduling 1aa games because big east is so weak

I would say it's too bad Miami doesn't want to extend our series, but we're kinda in the same boat.  Why play any tougher schedule than we have too?

Because we keep having to schedule cream puffs at the beginning of the year.  We need a tougher team to help with our SOS to catch the voters attention (only if we keep winning).  The BE still gets no respect, but if we can beat some of the better schools in other conferences like the ACC, Big 10, SEC, Big 12 and the PAC 10 it will help us out in the long run.

Have you looked at Boise State's strength of schedule?

Yeah, by the end of November, you've either made them respect you enough to vote for you, or you haven't (as is the case with us.)

Okay, you can change the subject back to the bad, bad Bulls.  But the point remains, you don't have to play a Top 10 team every game to get into a BCS game.  The SOS matters less in football than in Basketball when picking a 65 team tournament field.

I was in agreement with you

Right, but you see I didn't want this to become another thread about Rutgers.

HM, nice analysis and all of your points have validity.  In your work with ISC, you know that many factors go into these decisions.  So, selling single tickets isn't one of them.  Not sure if UM is joining other programs in shrinking their active recruiting zone, but Tampa Bay certainly cheaper to recruit than CA.  If oil goes nuts again, travel costs factor in as well.  2-4 times a decade would make for some interesting games.

I really think that in this day and age, if you don't already have a year-in, year-out in-state rivalry established, it's not going to happen. UF and FSU have been playing each other for 55 years, and Miami and FSU pretty much have to play each other because they're in the same conference. All of the other permutations (USF vs. anyone, Florida vs. Miami) are going to have to be occasional series. The need to schedule easy wins, as many home games as possible, and a variety of teams to get people to buy tickets all dictate it.

Does it matter for Boise State?  Sure doesn't seem to.  Watching their games the last few weeks is proof they don't belong, but no one seems to consider they're playing a pathetic schedule.  As Sitting_Bull said, winning seems to take care of that.  And if it does, why would anyone schedule a tougher schedule?  Like Rutgers - line up the patsies, win in conference and they are ranked.  Period.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
