Don't they still call that stretch of road south of Tampa the Tamiami Trail...used to be through Sarasota all the way across before I-75 was built?   I think it was HWY 41 named the Tamiami Trail...used to take forever to get to Miami that way...through Alligator Alley.

actually, it isn't referred to that much.  Before I 75, people took 19/301 down and either tamiami trail or alligator alley to Miami.

Now, UM plays up in Ft Lauderdale I believe which is closer to Alligator Alley than it is Tamiami Trail which juts southward to Miami.

Also, the state has changed so much - not sure how long you have been gone from the area.  You might not recognize the place.

For example, the Jaxlando expressway is gone.  So is Orliami (not to be confused with Origami) highway.  And for the local FSU fans, Tallampa Trail is gone too.  I think the only one around still, is ManaSota.

I like the "Tamiami" part but I don't really like Tango, Tussle or Tangle--they sound sort of wimpy like dances and that 2nd T is sort of a tongue twister.  How about Tamiami Brawl, Tamiami Showdown or Tamiami Shootout.  Can't really say ".... on the Tamiami"--Tamiami Trail Is US 41 not Dale Mabry.
