Trib: Detractors don't bother USF's Leavitt

he has a huge guaranteed contract

why should he care

In the list of moronic posts coming from the LA area, this has to be among the worst.

1) It's not a "huge" guarantee the buy out declines year to year... yes, it's more than USF could really 'afford' but it could be bought out  It's not the 18 million that Charlie Weis has at Notre Dame.

2) As for "Why should he care?" The contract does have an end, counselor.  Even if he doesn't get fired... he won't retire when it ends.  He will either want an extension to stay at USF or he will want to be hired somewhere else.  If he "doesn't care" chances are he may not be be able to make the same salary.

He could though, depending on how he is with his money.

Relax, he has 4 more years to produce a Big East win and then if he does not his value will be right down the drain.

First off as was stated above even with his guaranteed contract, if he loses then so would his next contract because there wont be many takers.

Secondly, coaches do not follow internet boards or radio talk shows because its a world that when you do well, theyll pat you on the back and just as fast throw you awy when you lose. It wasnt too long ago this board was on an uproar about why wasnt Leavitt signing a contract and how he should turn down other offers out of loyalty for the program.

How soon we forget!!!!

Ok, Leavitt has 4 more seasons to win the Big East (Contract negotiations would probably start in 2013) if he does not thank him for his service and 2014 is his last year.

If you wait that long to start contract negotiaitons our recruiting will severly suffer. Every coach will use that aginast us during recrutiing time.

Detractors don't bother USF's Leavitt

By JOE HENDERSON | The Tampa Tribune

Even if there was a movement to raise enough money to buy him out - which there isn't, and there shouldn't be - Leavitt is golden with the USF administration.

Not saying there is a movement, but some big donors are not happy - at all - with the way things are going.

Unhappiness abounds when a team loses.  I'm not sure our experiencing unhappiness is necessarily alarming.

We thought in 2004 that the world was ending - we went 4-7.

We'll just need cooler heads to prevail as those actually able to make a difference can do so.

I ditto that comment CR, it's the same thing that I have mentioned and have been scoriated for.  Once and twice, were overlooked and now there is outside pressure from donors and the sports community in general.  I hope it leads to an internal evaluation of everyone's performance and subsequent changes/modifications.  Without it, we will be doomed to repeat (conference road losses, being the ***** to Cincy and Rutgers) for a fourth year which could lead to Armageddon  :D
