USF FOOTBALL NEEDS TO START COMPETING IN BE

This is BCS level football. Everyone we play has fast guys. We aren't getting the top guys at every position. You are buying into the hype that just because we play in Florida that we have Florida speed. That is one of the funniest things I hear talked about on TV. Yes, florida produces fast guys, but we will never be able to get them all to come here and you will always have to play against other "FL speed" players across the ball.like Tim Brown, Devine, Jock Sanders, Mardy Gilyard (all from FL). The difference is they have opened up a larger recruiting area.  Tell me, which freshman running back would you prefer?  Lamar Lindsey with his Florida Speed or Dion Lewis from Albany, NY?

Building the team from just FL only works on paper. NO team does it. The Gators don't do it, Miami does not do it and FSU does not do it.   

Yes we can build the majority of the team this way, but we also need to look elsewhere for the best football players that fill our specific needs.

I really see no other way to build a competitive program.

It worked when we were in 1aa because the other teams we competed against were in the same boat. We are in a BCS conference and its a different deal altogether its the big leagues. If we don't step up in this regard we will always be behind the 8 ball and have a difficult time competing in this league consistently.

I would prefer Pitt's offensive line to ours. they can keep dion lewis. RBs aren't as important as O-linemen IMO.

if we need to go out of state to build one then do it. we have a walk-on starting. they outweigh rutgers d-line by an average of 50lbs and yet we run for .9 ypc on 30 rushes.

our offense is one dimensional. teams don't respect our RBs. they rush 4, drop 7 into a zone and spy BJ. game over.
