Many, including myself, have suggested for years that we need a special teams coach.  Leavitt just always looked like he was too busy running other things, player substitutions got missed, teams weren't prepared, etc.  So I hear this year we now have one.  I sure hope whoever it is, we aren't paying him!

I have never seen a college football team have such poor special teams.  Sure, this first half was the most obvious example, but this whole year we have consistently had awful returns, awful kicking, and massive confusion (how many TOs have we wasted on special teams?).

Not sure what needs to be done, but at this point I think any change is positive!

Starts at the top CJL is undisciplined just like the rest of the team.

Having good special teams is mostly about heart and determination, not skill. I'll let you fill in the rest.

John Hendricks is the special teams coach.  I feel that our special teams stink and that Hendricks is the worst coach on the staff.

I disagree.

f beamer(v-tech), considered one of the best at special teams, will play his best players. he uses starters that are considered NFL guys. That's unusual as most programs, including ours, use walk-ons and backups. It has nothing to do with heart and everything to do with talent.

beamer is a good coach who realizes that special teams are 1/3 of a game. there is offense, defense and special teams.they win a lot of games due to special teams. With us, it's an afterthought.

from roanoke.com:

Beamer was one of the first coaches in the country to utilize his best players on special teams. Last year, linebacker Xavier Adibi and offensive tackle Duane Brown, a pair of NFL Draft picks, were on the punt-coverage squad.

"We put the best people we've got on there," Beamer said.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Act like you’ve been there before. Turns out, for many of us, we haven’t been there before.
