Seth Greenberg's record:

Record vs BCS Schools:  10-16

Jim - you bring up an interesting point with that stat...

Considering the resources and lack of tradition or fan interest at USF, I think it's not doing too badly to go 10-16 vs big-budget BCS schools.

You may be right

And I may have miscounted -- tried to do it too quickly.

Seth's record is actually 13-16... Including a 3-5 record against Florida & Florida State... no games against the ACC... and 3-2 against the Big East...

Here are the BCS games (note that none are really against the better teams...:

@ Florida (L 85-53)

@ Rutgers (L 65-50)

vs Washington State (W 61-59 @ San Juan Shootout)

@ Ohio State (W 67-49)

vs Rutgers (L 72-60)

vs Michigan State (L 68-53)

vs Florida State (W 70-68)

1998-99 (1-2)

@ Texas (W 93-76)

vs Tennessee (L 75-68)

@ Florida State (L 77-66)

1999-2000 (2-2)

@ Tennessee (L 102-90)

vs Wisconsin (W 66-63)

vs UCLA (L 103-98 OT @ Pearl Harbor Classic)

vs Florida State (W 66-55)

2000-01 (2-3)

I might be more concerned about the unscrupulous recruiting activity on Seth's part...maybe...but I'm not, because MAC came in and gutted the team of talent, jettissoning the best players. Coach MAC created the situation we are in for other reasons, and no one recruit would change the position the team is in today. This is not intended as a dig on coach MAC, I am just looking at the reality of the situation.

what record this year would it take for you to think usf bball is on the right track?

Seth Greenberg's record:

C-USA Games: 47-63

C-USA Tournament: 3-7 (Never past the 2nd round)

NIT Record: 0-2

Record vs BCS Schools:  10-16

Record on the road: 30-58

numbers don't lie

schools much smaller than usf have excelled in basketball

there is no need to bash seth

coach mac will have to make his own way

i think he will

loose cannons are impossible to coach and you will never win with them

I'm not looking for any W-L record to know the Bulls are on the right track. This season is about developing underclassmen and instilling them with coach MAC's system and getting everybody to play together as a team and not as a group of individuals.

The things I am looking for don't always show up in the W-L column. Things like making the right decisions on court, not making too many mistakes, not turning the ball over and hitting free throws. This team is sort of like the football team gearing up for the Big East, with some talented underclassmen who are going to be here for a few years and form the basis for the move forward. Sort of like Seth's six-pack class with guys like Ced Smith, Artha Reeves and Chonsey Asbury who were the backbone of that team as it developed into a Conference USA contender. Some of the players like Waters, Dennis and next year's Freshmen will be the backbone of this team and it's important for them to develop in the next couple years.
