Penalty question

On an offsides on a kickoff, does the other team have the option to re-kick or add the penalty yards to the return?? I've never seen the return stand AND add the penalty onto it ............

Yes, the receiving team has the option of taking the ball plus five yards or having the kicking team re-kick the ball.  Most teams choose the second option because they feel that with another chance to return the kick, they can get more than the 5 yards the penalty would give them.
