You didnt see anything there.  You are allowed to do that provided you LET GO if he gets your hands outside your shoulders.  Thats key, they have to be inside his and your shoulders.

I was an OL and DL in HS (way undersized, should have been FB and/or TE), and also TE for a little bit.  But I know the rules.

And holding is a 10 yard call, just to clear that up.

From what I understand ... any RS is a "medical" ... they just use it even for a hangnail ... it's tough to get the 6th year as LRS, Jr. did. Can anyone confirm ?

Every player has the right to redshirt one year, for any reason. If you want to redshirt for injury reasons after you have already used your one redshirt season, you have to apply for permission from the NCAA. Sometimes they grant it, sometimes not. Approvals/rejections are done with the NCAA's usual randomness.
