Maybe he can grab Peruzzo, no how about Morris, or Bernard....

RMC isn't going to take a big man just for the sake of having a big man sit on the bench- ala Seth (that's right all you Seth ass kissers because that's exactly what he did, who in the world could watch Peruzzo and think he had skill, what a waste of space and a scholarhship)....get a grip, let me guess you just want a big man to say we have a big man, then walk around wailing everytime that big baffoon sits in the middle and only manages to pick up 4 rebounds, 2 pts, and no block shots- reminiscent of the stats of many of USF's previous centers under Seth.

The best team's Seth had were when his center position was manned by a guy UNDER 6-10!  RMC will grab a center, but he's actually a four year guy, i.e. he makes a four year commitment to a player and he expects the same in return.  Unlike Seth, RMC doesn't want to take a wasted space, project (like the one Seth made him inherit in Diarra) center just to have him sit the bench for four years.  He would rather grab a solid wing forward that can score, and shoot lights out.  Because, DUH that's what wins the college game.

Look at the NCAA Final Four- Does OK ST ring a bell, or how about Uconn with Okafor at a whole 6ft 9inches....that's right you can do it without having complete height.  Actually UL destroyed us without having one man over 6-10 on their roster, and they seemed to destroy Morris.

Besides, after further review of the roster we have Diarra, Leather, Jones all 6-10 or taller, and Brigman at 6-8 240lbs.  I wouldn't say we are void of size inside!

So if you're going to rip on RMC then at least be original about it.

Terrence Leather ain't 6'10".  Anyone who's ever seen him in real life knows that.

I didn't mention Seth anywhere.  And you're right, dominant big men have never been a factor for successful college basketball programs - I think Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning had a little bit to do with Georgetown's storied past, Hakeem Olajuwon ring a bell?  Or if you want to talk recent history, How about Syracuse with Carmelo Anthony?  Show me a team with a big man in today's college basketball world and I'll show you a successful program.

Also are you trying to imply that Gerrick Morris didn't make a contribution to this team defensively last year?  If not for him being a big man who can block shots, you could probably take away 3 of our astounding 7 total victories last year.  Would you have been happier with a team without a center with typical center abilities i.e. shotblocking?  Guess what, that's what we have this year and in coach Mid American Conference's own words, these guys are not defending the basketball.

Carmello Anthony is a wing player, not a big man.  Very poor example.

In fact... Syracuse is a great example of a team that won it all without a big man.

Warrick was the closest thing, but he wasn't that tall, just lanky and could jump out of the building.

Last 2 national champs Cuse and UConn had no "true" center type, just some great power fowards and/or swingmen.

But we are not in the same class as either of these teams, nor are we georgetown.

Trying to say we should have this caliber player is crazy.  It would be great to have... but not having one is not a failure on Mac's part.

Not to split hairs or go off on a tangent (although that's exactly what I'm doing), but I thought Peruzzo was already offered before Seth got here? I think that was Seth's first season, when he had even less to work with than Mac last year.

FWIW, We are very high on the list of a 7foot 2inch 230lb center.. Jared Carter, for next year.

Other schools in the running that are also rated as high on his list... Boston College, Illinios, and Vanderbilt.

And we are on the list for Derrick Caracter for 2006, who is a 5 star PF from NJ....  probably a pipe dream since UConn and KY are also in his highest ranking right now with us, but he does have us higher than Duke, Mich, and Indiana.  ( i know too far to mean much, except that Mac is trying to bring in top notch big guys, he just hasn't had enough opportunity to date)
