Done.  That was easy.  I'll tell Waston and you tell Jim.  I'll see you in Tampa in 2005 and Birmingham in 2006.

Being an AD would be an easy job huh?

Right now, we can't get the schedule complete until we know for certain if the UCF game is going to count as our C-USA game or not.  Until that determination comes, we probably won't sign another C-USA team under the concern that they won't count any games contracted prior to the agreement.

I think we'll end up playing USM on a frequent basis, there's some good animosity between our teams built up over the past few seasons.  I think it'll turn into a good rivalry/grudge match.

Okay... I found this to answer question #1 (confirming UABGrad's post):

From the Indianapolis Star

12-game schedule nears reality

Final approval for extra football game could come in April

By Michael Pointer

michael.pointer@indystar.com

September 23, 2004

The NCAA's Championship and Competition Cabinet approved a proposal Wednesday that would allow schools to add a 12th regular-season football game beginning in 2006, a move that could be a multimillion-dollar boost for some programs.

The measure now goes to the NCAA's Division I Management Council and Board of Directors, which could issue final approval in April.

"I don't know if I would say it's a slam dunk," said Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke, a member of the cabinet. "There are points of view on both sides. But I would say there was a consensus that it should go forward."

Burke said an average home football game at Purdue generates $1.9 million in revenue. He said that would help pay the athletic department's scholarship costs, which have risen from $4.3 million to $6.5 million over the past four years.

Surveys show players like the idea, another factor that helped convince Burke to support the measure.

"There comes a point where there's too much," he said. "But if you're starting at Labor Day and ending around Thanksgiving, you're still dealing with the traditional football season."

Schools currently are allowed to play 12 games only when there are 14 Saturdays between late August and late November. That was the case in 2002 and '03, but it won't happen again until 2008 and 2013.

So, it looks like we need to add 2 home games in 2005 and 2006, 3 in 2007... etc etc etc

According to NationalChamps...

USM has 2 OOC road games for next year('Bama & Auburn), so I doubt they want to come back to Tampa...

Navy has all 11 games scheduled for next year already (and 12 for 2006), so they are out as well...

Troy State has four OOC games for 2005 already...

Not looking good... can we say TWO games vs 1-AA teams??

If we schedule USM, UAB or Tulane it wouldn't matter if they count or not.

Ding!! Ding!! Ding!!!

We have a winner!!!

If USF wants Div I-A non-conf home games...they could schedule them now.

Nothing is stopping them.

Actually it does matter......if we signed a full schedule and then CUSA deemed some other team to be our CUSA trade game then we would be over booked.  The best we can do right now leave one opening in our schedule.

All CUSA teams are waiting to see what happens and none of them are willing to sign a deal right now until they find out who their CSUA trade game is.  They can't fill up their schedules yet just as UL, Cincy and USF can't.

And to futher complicate matters.....you can't really sign schools now to a set date because you don't know what date your CUSA trade game will be.  Thus even if you leave a spot open on your schedule it does not mean that the school you are paired with is going to have the same availablilty.

Everyone tries to make this such a simple issue but you are being too short sighted.

Nothing's going to get done until the Commishioners from each conference and ADs all get together in one room and hash it out.  There is no way that happens before the first of next year.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
