You would think with all the medical technology we have today, pulling a tooth would be easier than shooting the patient up with lidocane and then jabbing your gums with sharp instruments while trying to pull your skull out through your mouth.

I think it was less painful breaking my tooth in half with a screwdriver after drinking a lot of beer than what it currently feels like after having the dentist taking the rest of the tooth out.   :(

No, that IS modern dental technology. In the old days they skipped the lidocane.

Right after Game 7 where the Lightning won the Stanley Cup, my tooth had been driving me crazy. I had already shelled out $250+ for an emergency root canal that only temporarily worked, so I said the hell with it and grabbed a screw driver out of my car and tried snapping it out. Instead of the whole tooth popping out, half of the front snapped in half and the whole back remained. Now matter how hard I tried snapping the back off, I couldn't get enough leverage on the screwdriver to pull it off. But the pain did go away! So I was happy.

About a week ago, I was starting to get the same pain, and tried forcing it out by placing a ton of pressure on the back, but it was to no avail. Finally today, I went to the dentist, paid my 20% insurance and got it removed for $30.

Unfortunately, the new tooth next month is running $900 and some change! Instead of going home for Thanksgiving, I'm getting a new tooth and bridge! I will make the Memphis game though... the tooth can wait!

Sheriff... I went through the EXACT same thing.  I about crapped my pants when he pulled out the industrial strength Craftsman pliers and started yanking the sucker out of my mouth.  Thank god for novocaine and painkillers afterward.

I got a bridge, too.  Best thing ever, s'pecially compared to that crappy root canal that never worked.

I heard somewhere that an ice skate and a big rock takes out the tooth.  Should've tried that!
