regarding ECU rushing the field

did anyone catch the brutal beat down the security put on some students (while tons of others ran right by them) after ECU beat WVU?

Now that game was totally under ECU's control the whole time-- and I realize it was a huge win for them ranked opponent-wise - but I have to say that was crazy. If schools lack the security force to stop this from happening-- BACK OFF and let it happen-- surround the players and coaches instead =- protect them. DOn't waste time trying to stop a handful of people then proceed to beat on them for whatever reason.

I just wish we could stop the running on the field in general. I know it is fun-- I've even done it myself a few times. But the chances that something really bad happens are scary.

If we have an emotional win against KU-- I sure hope we don't have people saying "umpt the wall" and running around like crazy bastards

There is maybe one "bad" incident in the past 5 or 10 years with field rushing. For the most part, there are pnly minor injuries, and usually they are from sprained or fractured ankles from jumping down from the wall.

I just don't get the whole "grab one or two of the students and pummel them, while the rest get a free pass" mentality.

Its pretty simple logic that would help all this:

 20,000 crazy students and fans are rushing the field. There are maybe 100 cops down there.

Make sure to protect the opponents coaches and players. You cant stop a large populace with a few cops. And if you try, odds are the aclu or some lawyers will be all over you too.
