What is the state of our o-line - its seems to me that Grothe is always running for his life in the back field because the center is weak... at least that is what I saw against UCiF...

can't be perfect but I thought he had a lot of time on a lot of plays.  that's a key for those deep pass plays.

What I noticed in the UCiF game (and others before it) was when Grothe ends up with a lot of time to pass and he holds onto the ball a while, he gets antsy and starts taking off before he has to, sometimes rolling straight towards pressure. Just something I've noticed with him, he's more comfortable on the run than standing in the pocket IMO

I might add that if you had to lose a lineman against KU, it would be best to lose a center or guard. While we do send Mortensen and Rivera on blitzes regularly through the middle, we have little experience at defensive tackle. We have size in the middle, but we lost our lone upperclassman DT to injury for a few games.

The guy that is moving in (Sims), has been considered a "sixth starter" by the coaching staff.  After that, it gets dicey.  If we lose anyone else, there is a good possibility we'll be using a true freshman on the line.  If we lose someone else on the interior, I would think we would move one of our more experienced guys in, and play a young guy at tackle. The coaching staff seems to favor inside protection, and let Grothe try and deal with guys coming off the edge if need be.

Did you watch the same UCF game I did?  The one where Grothe threw for 365 yards and had all the time in the world to complete passes?  The game where they picked up all of UCF blitz packages and Grothe never once got touched within 3-5 seconds of the initial snap.

If you let Grothe sit back there for more than 3 seconds a rusher is bound to eventually get to him.  This isn't the Great Wall of China, these kids are actually hustling and working.

From what I have heard is that Warren is pretty close to battle ready.  He's played enough and is tested.  After Warren then the best options are true frosh.

There is also the possiblity of using Genus on the OL if they do not want to burn one of the freshman's redshirt.

I was thinking the same thing, now that McClain has established himself.

..Warren will back-up Sims at right guard, OL coach Mike Simmonds told me. Before the season I thought as good as the offensive line was, it was dangerously thin, so the Bulls can’t afford for any more linemen to go down.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
