Here's my reply to that article...

First of all, why was it the state legislature's business to FORCE an FSU/UF series? Didn't they have more important issues back then?

Second, like you said ... "FSU didn't win any of the first six games, but then started to pull even with the Gators."

Why should USF give ucIF a similar platform from which to build? It's not USF's job to help other schools out!

No other BCS program has an annual series with a non BCS team, why should we?

Colorado and Colordao State have played 80 times and every year since 1999. There is precedent for BCS vs Non-BCS, but it is weak.  There is no strong reason for any BCS team to have a long term series with a Non-BCS school, just too much to lose. Also the familiarity of playing a school every year makes the game like a conference game, which everyone knows are tougher games because of the familiarity, but it has the added toughness of being a rivalry. I for one would rather see us continue to build the rivalries with our conference brethren. Go Bulls!!

Actually the Board of Control (as it was called) passed an administrative rule requiring the teams to schedule in 1956.  It wasn't the legislature, but state government did act to force these two schools to start the process.
