Does anyone really think Bonani or Teachey is better than Delbert?  Don't you think Coach Leavitt would know best since he sees the competition every DAY in practice?

Didn't Delbert replace Teachey as the starting kicker in their freshman year? Or was Benzer still the kicked at that point?

Delbert must have something on CJL, maybe some nasty pics or something to still be kicking for this team

We are 0-3 in field goals.

If we bring another guy in to kick one we will be doing no worse than we are now.  I think Alvarado would understand he has lost the right to be the field goal kicker.  If we replace him and the otherguy fails, Alvarado will know he has the chance to come back and prove himself.

You can't reward failure.

We are 1-3 on field goals so we could do worse ..... but we still need to give someome else a shot.

1 for 4 then right? missed/blocked in the tenn- martin game and missed/blocked two in UCF game

Right ... I fogrot to include first game. He's really only missed one but that was a makeable one he had to make .... Let's try the rookie. We can always go back to Delbert.

I think the blocks are mostly his fault too.. the ball is coming out so low, it really isn't a penetration issue so much as he has to get the ball up faster.

The blocked field goal last night had nothing to do with Delbert. We let one of their players come around the edge untouched, it was an easy block.

Everyone knows he sucks as a kicker, so let's talk about the LINE DRIVE punt, that he kicked DIRECTLY to Burnett, that led to a huge return, that led to the tying TD.

We kicked away from him all night(on punts), and when it counts most, he did the ONE thing that you cannot do.

Leavitt is just OBSESSED with being loyal to players...TO A FAULT.

Then why didn't Julmiste play his SR season ?

Every player on this team has a job to do. Alvarado did not do the job last night...but neither did the O line- the coaching staff- etc. My whole gripe is that he has not performed up to what should be considered the starting kicker. he will cost us a victory in the future, (as well as maybe he will win one for us too). My point is that we should try someone else this early on to see who is more consistant. We are at that point where every score counts as we get nationally known. Wake Forrests kicker won the game for them on a same distance kick that Alvarado had. We were lucky to pull last night out!    Reaper

PS  yes his punting was poor last night also. Maybe he needs to sit out a few to get his act together.

We were special teams challenged. A better angle ? How about run Grothe to the center of the field for a closer field goal and a straight shot. Call time out and kick. Nah, back it up 5 yards and make it 42 yards with an angle ?? I thought Delbert had redeemed himself at the end of last year, but now its time for a change. Maybe the freshman is a gamer ?

Here's the thing...

There were +/- 5000 USF fans minimum watching the game. Did ANYONE think he was going to make that FG for the win?

Seriously. I was pulling for him because if he did make it, maybe that would have been the confidence boost he needs, but I didn't think we were about to walk out of there with a 3 point win on a FG.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
