if our playbook hasn't changed from last year, it is time to get rid of Gregory.  period.

Right. Get rid of the OC who is responsible for the most prolific offense in school history: school records for points scored and yards gained.

Sure.

Bulls will become a multi-demensional running team.  Ford, Williams and Taylor will have different styles and teams will not be able to react to the techniques.

That's how people said the offense would be last year.  We won't know until we see it in a game.

Perhaps you missed the Auburn and WVU games last year (or FAU or UNC or 'Cuse or L'ville)?  When our OL was healthy, our team was balanced... when our OL stated getting hurt and depleted (Rutgers, U Conn, Cincy), we needed help.

yeah, we ran up the score [and the yardage] against UNC, UCF, Louisvile, Cuse and Pitt.  :clap

our scoring against top teams was pretty anemic.  it took OT to score 3 TDs on Auburn.  our offense only put up 2 TDs on WVU's punishing defense.  15 against UConn is horrible.

i give less credit to Gregory for his offense, and more credit to the fact that our talent level has increased exponentially since joining the Big East.

sorry, but breaking school records for offense at a school that has been FBS for only 7 seasons and BCS for only 3 doesn't blow my mind.  if our talent level didn't improve as we progressed through the ranks of CFB, we would be questioning Leavitt's recruiting right now and not Gregory's playcalling.

The red zone play calling needs to improve this year.  We were 7th in the conference last year.  We were mid-pack in most other offensive statistics.

If we run the same offense this year we can expect the same results.  Those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

I just noticed in Greg's blog that we are again 7th in the conference in red zone effeciency.  Gregory's red zone playcalling has been suspect for two years now.

"Red zone? USF has struggled inside the 20-yard line -- 10 times this season, they've left the red zone with zero points. The only team to do that more times is ... West Virginia, with 11. The Mountaineers have the Big East's least efficient red-zone offense, but they also have the toughest red-zone defense, holding opponents to 17 touchdowns in 38 trips inside the 20. (USF has also given up 17 red-zone TDs, but in 31 opportunities, showing they're a better defense in keeping teams from getting to the 20)."

Wow it is interesting after reading this article that much has not changed about the USF offense. Looks like the same struggles that USF had last year continue to this year.

USF is actually fifth in red-zone efficiency -- the Big East ranks teams based on the percentage of times inside the 20 they score points, with no relevance for whether it's touchdowns or field goals.

So Syracuse, for instance, has the best red-zone offense, scoring 91.3 percent of the time they're inside the 20. But they've only gotten in the red zone 23 times this year, which is 13 fewer than any other Big East team. It can be misleading that way.

I think it's more meaningful to evaluate a red-zone offense based on average points per trip in the red zone -- by that, USF is still fifth, at 4.7 points per trip. The best are Pitt and Cincy, at 5.2 points per trip, while the worst is West Virginia at 4.0.

Doesn't seem like much, but if a team averages 4.5 red-zone trips per game, the difference between best and worst (1.2 points per trip) adds up to 5.4 points per game, just in red-zone inefficiency, almost a touchdown per game.
