Pre-game Tailgates for Away Games

Is it worth it to spend $35 per person for the Alumni Pre-game Tailgate? Any reviews from last year?

The Tailgate menu will include the following:

Tender BBQ Ribs    |    Succulent Juicy Chicken

Chargilled burgers and hot dogs with Texas chili, onions and cheddar cheese

Hickory smoked baked beans    |    Corn on the cob

Pasta salad    |  Tossed salad

Assorted cookies

Soft drinks  |  Water  |  Beer  |  Wine

The one at the Sun Bowl was well worth it.

It is absolutly worth it just for the atmosphere alone, however as fun as they are I enjoy my own tailgates more when I have my setup which is easy to do for the local games (UCF & FIU)

FIU is a local game? That is my away game this year. Last year was Rutgers. I hope FIU turns out better.

Yes, FIU is a "local" game because you can load up the car and drive.  Hard to take the tailgate stuff on a plane.

I've been to 4 pre-game tailgates now and they were all worth the charge.  The food is usually pretty good and the beer is cold.  Sun dolls, cheerleaders and HOT (if they are there) stop by.  You can get pics with them (and PJG plus other "celebs").  Last year they gave out the official away game tailgate t-shirt too.  Given all that, I think for FIU this year I'm going to take my own tailgate given that I understand we can park near the stadium.

We went to the Auburn and FAU tailgates last year.  Food and beer were plentiful.  My only suggestion would be to start it a little earlier.  They usually don't get going until about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before the game.  We usually bring some of our own "beverages" for consumption prior to the official tailgate.  Not sure about doing FIU this year but more than likely will do the NC State and Louisville tailgates.

I'm thinking we're going to do the FIU tailgate. Since we're flying down and don't know anyone in our group driving it'll give us a chance to at least grab some food and get charged up for the game. Obviously we plan on picking up some adult beverages to tailgate for the tailgate.
