The Schedule

Wasn't our homecoming game @ 12:00 last year?

I would assume it would be the same this year.

yea i would imagine that the Rutgers game becomes a noon game.  but I find it hard to believe that USF vs Cuse would be the Big East game of the week.  Is everyone else on a bye week or playing an OOC?

Don't forget... the North Carolina game last year was on ESPNU as well -- so that is another possibility for these games... along with Noon kickoffs on ESPN or ESPN2.

As for Oct 18th...

U Conn is at Rutgers... this is the only other option for GOTW...

Pitt is at Navy...

Louisville hosts Middle Tennessee State...

Cincinnati and West Virginia are idle...

playing for exposure and money will decrease our chances of a NC.

has anyone who played a non traditional (sat only) schedule won the NC?

LSU - 2007

So yes... it is possible to win an NC without playing 12 games on Saturday...

i dont think its the schedule that causes the teams to not win the national title.  but the fact that teams that can get all saturday games are big time programs who still get BIG TV money even with playing the traditional saturday afternoon games.

it will be interesting to see how it works out...it's tough when the rest time and prep time between games keeps changing like that. Both the players and coaching staff will have to be prepared. I think it has played a role in previous seasons. I'm not worried about Kansas...we've played on Friday nights before and fared well.

Does anyone know how many Thursday night games we've played in and what our record is in those games? I'd be interested to know.

As far as it affecting attendance...I think the Thursday and Sunday night games will see a drop compared to what they'd be if it was a Saturday game. Unless the game will have significant meaning I don't see "fair weather fans", out of towners, or other people like that going to the games. Also, if the game's aren't close I'd expect a lot of early exits as well.

As a fan I'll honestly miss all the night games we had prior to last season. Noon games down here are horrible. Come December and maybe part of November they're not so bad, but in August and September it's just not nearly as enjoyable.

I like the Pitt game to be a near sellout if we're undefeated at that point.  In regards to game times, I'm with Jim on the Cuse being a nooner.  However, I see the RU game as being picked up by ESPN/ABC Regional for a 3:30 game.  I think ABC would want that huge NY market for a mid afternoon game.

Actually, I think the Tennessee Martin game will be our only 7:00pm game.

I am already planning for Homecoming to be a Nooner... and I would expect Rutgers to be at Noon as well.

What makes you think the Syracuse game will be at noon?  I would think that would be an ESPN regional.

For the last three years the Syracuse game has been at noon.

We have 3 home games that are going to be played at the normal, Saturday 7pm start time. And that's assuming that the ones that are currently listed as "TBA" are in fact 7pm games.

We have 1 friday night, 2 thursday night, and 1 sunday night game. Fortunately, only one of those "oddball" games are on the road.

Although it is no excuse, how our players adjust to this will be a determining factor in our final standing.

Discuss.

(BONUS: ow do you think this will effect attendance numbers?)

it shouldnt be a concern or effect the way players perform except in a shortened week

coaches need to prepare team to play every game

with all time between last game and sun bowl, usf didnt seem prepared so time alone doesnt mean much

an easier schedule

playing tough games at home is an important part of winning NC

usf doesnt have talent to win NC let alone big east

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
