There is a reason Ford was a 5 star recruit while BBQ struggled to make it as a walk-on; BBQ lacks talent. I like hard working people but in football you have to play your most talented player.

An NFL scout has already called Ford a "workhorse" who could get 20-30 carries in the NFL someday. I would hate to waste another year of his eligibility.

He is 3rd string for one of 3 reasons

1.  to motivate him

2.  cause he isn't the best rb

3.  the coaches don't want to put the best player on the field

If he isn't good enough to be the clear cut starter by now, I am disappointed in him.  The attitude of entitlement that you support is probably the only reason he isn't the 1st string RB.

Put him on the playing field and not just the practice field and then that depth chart will change QUICK

Being a great blocker as a RB is important, there is no questioning that. However if you are knwon only for your blocking ability and the other team knows that (which they already do), then the offense is going to pretty predictable. Ford or Taylor need to step up and improve their blocking skills. IMO Ford is the type of back that needs 15 to 20 carries to be at his best. Oh well, I will trust in the coaches as they know more about football and this team than I will ever know.

Benny is number one because he know's his assignments and can pick up the blitz.

Plus, he's a senior and we all know that is the Leavitt way - so B starts - I'm cool with that.

That doesn't mean we won't see a hell of a lot of Taylor and Ford in the back field.  We will see them plenty.

We all know Ford is good.  Why do you think he had so many touchdowns and the most rushing yards of all the backs.

Because he is good and Leavitt trusts him down on the goal line.

Leavitt has a lot of weapons right now and can use them in various situations.  Not a bad place to be.

I am the only one reading this news positively?

I think most of us can interpret Ford’s place on the depth chart as a motivational device. And BBQ's number one because of his blocking ability, senior status, and the various other reasons already stated.  And, beyond that, I really think we are reading much too deeply into it.

As for my personal positivity?  I am excited about Jamar Taylor’s rise up the chart.  I see the entire FB team on a nearly daily basis and Taylor just looks like a quick, agile dude.  Plus, let’s not forget that this is a kid who had garnered interest from many big time programs and received offers from West Virginia, Tennessee, others, and had committed to Alabama.

I know that the Ford bandwagon is an easy one to jump on and, trust me, I am on it, but I think that we may be missing out on the opportunity to hype up our other big star at running back…

It doesn't matter its the offseason we'll continue this convo during the season. Ford will get slightly more then half the carries at rb during the season is what I predict.

I wonder how good of a blocker 160 lb Noel Devine is?
