I agree with USFGrad84, the Cincinasti game was the only game he forced alot of bad throws that lead to INTs.  Last season, Grothe took a big step forward and I would expect him to take another this year.  After the Cincinasti game, Grothe did a better job of recognizing situations when it was more advantagous to throw the ball than force a throw.

The bigger problem for Grothe is learning how and when to take his lumps and take not give up huge yardage on sacks.  Other than the Cincinnati game I never had a problem with any of his ints.  His not learning to just throw the ball away or worse yet, his running backwards for an additional 10 yard loss is a much bigger problem than the majority of his INTs.

To be picky but the two INT's he threw in the end zone against Uconn and RU hurt us in those games too.  We should have at least come away with FG's in those drives.  With that being said I love Matt.  Last year was his soph more year, you've heard of the sophomore slump.  Teams schemed to stop him.  This year I will expect he's now seen it all.  He's seen how teams scheme against him and what their tendencies are in those situations.  Now is the year he needs to capitalize, and make them pay when they cheat up, or bait him.  He's a heady kid, and hopefully he's reviewing all the old film to see and then once he's in games he'll see it, read it, and react.  It will make a difference.

I've never thought Matt had problems hanging onto the ball, though he does sometimes force his throws when we get behind.  The simple way to correct this problem is to never get behind  :D.

contrary to his old habits...

remember his first season--what, 5 come from behind wins?

if I remember correctly he was known in HS for his comebacks.

I just think he had/has to adjust his style and habits for this level of competition.

last yr got to grothes head.  they thought they could do anything and still win.  this yr he should be more focused

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
