I don't blame the USF staff for continuing to go after the hot shot recruits. It hurt to have been shunned in the past few years - and it is painfully obvious right now because Banks and Julmiste are not DI caliber QBs. I would like to point out that we have not one, but TWO, high profile QBs coming in next year. We also have a former Parade All-America who is redshirting this year and will be ready to kick start the O next year. On top of ALL THAT, we have a HS junior who has verballed to USF too who should be a stud. Help is on the way!

With all of that said, it doesn't help our woeful offense this year. Since our current QBs can't hit the broad side of a barn, I wonder if Leavitt has given any consideration to adjusting our own schemes to work better with our lack of talent behind center. Maybe throw some option plays in there to try to get something going on offense. I HATE the option but it is more painful to watch our QB short arm a pass to a wide open receiver than to watch them run the option. Just a thought.

PJ may be deserving of another shot, but in my opinion Banks has had enough shots to prove himself and hasn't done so.

Smazza, your point is valid about Ohio State but I disagree with you. Texas Tech loses to bad teams because they are exposed for having poor defense. USF has never really had a problem on that side of the ball - thank goodness. Our scheme doesn't suck ... it's one of the better schemes in college. We just have a really crappy set of people running it. Our offense is completely contingent on the QB getting the ball to the right person and we haven't been able to do that since Marquell left. Our scheme looked pretty good back when we were beating Pittsburgh at their house. RB and PJ are making the whole team look bad because they just can't get the job done. Our only hope is if Julmiste can turn himself around because he still has potential. Ronnie Banks has proven all too often that he just isn't very good and lacks the confidence in himself that is required to run this very good scheme.

Yes, we were in the mix for Shaeffer.  I think the real problem is that we didn't have a backup for Ingram in case that fell through (which it did).  I'm not sure if it was a case where we felt that strongly that we would get him or that there just wasn't anyone out there we wanted to give a scholarship ot.
