Because he didn't fold under enormous pressure and made the biggest fg in USF history after already missing once from that extreme angle .....

Like has already been stated, he was our best option last year and the coaching staff will make a change when a better option materializes....

Teachey has a better leg and is more dependable.

Not personal Delbert.....you need a gut check (about 2 years ago) and your only big day was really versus Syracuse when you did a 58 yarder (or so).

I don't understand why everyone bashes DA.  He came here as a punter to punt not kick field goals.  He took a schollie to punt not kick FGs.  He took on extra duties to help out the team.  He is a great punter and has served us very well in that area.  I'm sure he wouldn't mind focusing his attention 100% on that instead of 50/50.  He is doing what is asked of him.  Unfortunately, he is our best option.  The fault lies with the coach, not the guy doing something he wasn't signed to do.  Why haven't we found a better kicker?  Why hasn't Teachey, who is a place kicker, not taken over the job?  I'll go back further and ask why Santiago was so bad.  Everyone, including his brothers, said he was going to be better then they were.  Do we have a problem coaching kicking technique?  We have had a coaching and recruiting problem at this position.

I would prefer DA go back to punting only, not as a demotion, but because it is his perm #1 job.  Otherwise, when he struggles kicking FG, I curse the coaches not the player who wasn't supposed to be there anyway.

Teachey was meant for kick-offs, he doesn't have the accuracy for field goals, Alvarado, if anyone remembers, dropped the ball his first time punting in a game and let the opponent (UCF) score a touchdown off of it as well as the next game and the next game. he also netted a 34 yard aver. last year, worst than in high school. Leavitt had another punter, Petrov, but is scared of the pressure, Leavitt has a new Walk-on, but won't give him a shot at feild goals in a game situation, becuase he is a walk-on, even though he walked on this year after 3 years of trying out and is a great feild goal kicker, and the new freshman weighs about 165 lbs and has no accuracy and will probably be redshirted. Leavitt supports Alvarado because he "believes" in him, and this is why he will never take us further than sun bowls and papa johns bowls, becuase his play calling in pressure situations is much to be desired. Last year at Auburn he cut his walk-ons after that game to show everyone how much he supported Alvarado, don't blame Alvarado cuz he sucks, blame Leavitt that he keeps playing him.

I think that for the spring game, the fans should only be allowed to sit behind the goal post and then we hold a kicking challenge.

We can have an announcer set up different high pressure scenarios before each kick. Then, instead of sending or kicking team to defend, we let all the angry student sit infront of Delbert yelling and screaming to distract him.

Then if he fails, walk on tryouts.
