Orlando Media: Continue the Rivalry

Watching the Sports Night on 9 this evening on the local ABC channel, http://www.wftv.com/index.html , had Orlando Sentinel Columnists, Brian Schmitz and Jerry Greene.  Both said the 'Rivalry' game should continue.  One of them cited that it took Florida State six games to finally beat Florida.  I am sure tomorrow the UCF folks will be saying they will beat us in their house next year.

If they want to continue the rivalry, thats fine, but we do it on our terms.  3 home games for USF, 1 for UCF.  Four games and then we'll re-evaluate it then.  Selfishly, I'd like to keep them on the schedule.  Its a Win, every year.  Can never have too many wins.

I know we still have to play them next year, but I was hoping after yesterdays game and especially with Rutgers in a couple of days that we would not have to hear about "them" ever again. Let "them" live in a fantasy world and do all teh wishful thinking they want. Has it occured to anyone, "they" are the only team that keeps hounding us with the word "rival". Years of playing and traditions form a rival not just, "we can't get any respect so let's ride the wave of the Bulls".

Why does this always happen to Tampa...getting the short end of the stick?

Football team...TampaBay Bucs-I call them the Bucs and the stadium the Tampa Stadium

Hockey team...TampaBay Lightning-I call them the Lightning and the arena the Ice Palace

Baseball team (what a joke)...TampaBay Devil Rays (great marketing there)-I could care less what their called

They stole the team from Tampa and are now wondering why they can't even pay their electric bill, just like Miami stealing the team for themselves and saying we will call them the Florida Marlins-I call them the Miami Marlins

Will we end up having to call the USF Bulls the new and improved TampaBay Bulls? Will we never get an OCS because all the USF locations will want it on their site?

I tell you, "they" can go and find a rival somewhere else, like some local bar sponsored flag-football team for all I care. But I for one, will no longer (at least try very hard not to) bring up in a conversation "their" name. The pig has been killed, roasted and eaten. All that remains is the grease on the ground for the ants to enjoy. I can understand a drowning man grasping for straws but the USF Bulls have never been, are not and never will be someone elses "straws".

Rutgers is not just the "next" game, it is "the" game to concentrate every ounce of energy on. They beat us last year and the sting still lingers. Let's go there and show them why you "Don't Mess with the Bulls...!!!"

Id sign a 2 for 1 with them in a second. 1 for 1? No. The 3-1 you are proposing has no chance of happening. A 2-1 might be a slim possibility, if we gaurentee them extra student tickets in the games here.
