I know I didn't dream this so could someone post the link if you find the article....but this morning in reading all the USF/UCF fallout I read somewhere, someone spoke with Doug Wollard about the UCF "rivalry" and scheduling and whatnot. What were his plans after the 08' game is played. Doug said something to the effect of we've had some good contacts with some schools for future schedules since all the media attention started and there has been some discussions about a neutral site game.

I've looked and looked but I cannot refind the article. Did anyone else see this? I was wondering where would we have a Neutral Site Game? Jacksonville? Orlando? and then with whom? Auburn? Georgia Tech? I doubt FSU.

if we had a neutral site game with anyone, it'd be UCF.

I read the article as well.  It sounded like they were exploring options for future games.  It did not sound like anything was imminent though.

I remember reading it too. Just not sure where. It's definitely a interesting scenerio. Maybe the Gators in Orlando?

Found it, John Romano, I thought it was Greg but either way it was the SP Times.

Here's the little quote "We're just trying to look at our schedule and see what makes sense from both a home and an away standpoint and then look at what options may come available," USF athletic director Doug Woolard said. "We've had some people call us about some TV games, and some neutral site games. So we're looking at all of that as we move forward."

if we do a neutral site game it better be against a national powerhouse.  maybe a rematch with Oklahoma or something.  but neutral site for UCF...give me a break.

A friend of mine that is a member of some FSU boards says that after FSU played Alabama both teams made 15million more than they would have had it been a home game for either team. FSU is currently looking for a neutral site game with other teams and has asked USF and WVU. This info comes from rivals.com message boards.

I was thinking about this before when Bama and Noles played. Maybe we could change the contract with Miami to have one or two neutral games with our remaining 5 games. Maybe just the last game could be on a neutral field in Orlando (I don't know of any other good locations between the two schools.)

I don't know about "$15 million more" figure... especially for "each team"...

The FSU-Alabama game was the largest crowd in the history of Alltell stadium - with 85,500... to make $15 million, tickets would have to average more than $175 each... that is more than the face value of national championship game tickets.

I don't want to move a Miami game... and I don't know if I would want to play FSU in Jacksonville.

The Citrus Bowl renovations are slowly moving ahead... and FSU already has a contract to play a neutral site game there in 2012 or 2013... assuming they are over their "we'll never play USF" philosophy.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
