So happy for us, our school, Coach Leavitt and the guys!!! Way to go.

Again, I will ask, who offically dubbed Oklahoma the "best 1-loss team in the country?"

Just looked at the voters and only 15 voters have us outside of the top 3.  This is not meant to cause an attack, but to show who we haven't yet "impressed." There are a few odd polls out there . . .

Chris Fowler (ESPN) – 5

Austin Ward (Wyoming Caper Star Tribune) – 6

Doug Doughty (The Roanoke (VA) Times) - 5

Myron Patton (KOKH-TV Oklahoma City) – 7

Kirk Herbstreit  (WBNS-AM Columbus) – 5

Tommy Trujillo (The New Mexican) – 4

Rich Kaipust (Omaha (NE) World-Herald) -5 (has WVA #2)

Parrish Alford (NE Mississippi Daily Jnl) -5

David Birkett (Oakland (MI) Press) – 4

Scott Rabalais (The Advocate Baton Rouge) – 5

Steve Batterson (Quad City (IA) Times) – 5

Eric Hansen (South Bend (IN) Tribune) – 6

Mark Tupper (Decatur (Ill) Herald) – 4

Herb Gould (Chicago Sun-Times) – 5

Mike Prater (Idaho Statesman) – 7 (has Florida #4)

The Florida Votes:

Brian Landman (St. Petersburg (FL) Times) -3

David Jones (Florida Today) – 3

Israel Gutierrez (Miami Herald) - 2

Also the lone ASU vote:

Neal McCready (Mobile (AL) Press-Regist) – has us 3

OSU doesn't have a "cupcake" schedule...

10/20 Mich St 3:30 PM

10/27 at Penn State 8:00 PM

11/03 #19 Wisconsin TBD

11/10 #18 Illinois TBD

11/17 at Michigan TBD

yeah, but they havent played ANY of those games yet...  so being ranked #1 at this point is ridiculous.

if UConn had won at Virginia, they would have had a similar schedule to OSU thus far.  bunch of cupcakes with one win over a 20-30 ranked team.

Faza was pointing out that Ohio State's remaining schedule is "cupcake" and that they would "prance" into the NCG.  I disagree... if they run the table with that schedule, they deserve to be there.  I don't think they will... all five games are going to be very tough for a Buckeye team that has not really been challenged yet.

On the other hand, while USF has some tough games remaining, USF has played some tough games already... so the players and coaches know what they need to do to win.

ah ok. i must have misunderstood the context.

the remainder of OSU's schedule isn't easy by any stretch...  at the same time, the Big 11 is somewhat "down" this year...

but its safe to say that an undefeated OSU would get a NC nod regardless of how much their early schedule sucks, or how "down" the Big 11 is this year.

Thanks for this post, I was wondering where that #1 vote was coming from.

Does he know something no one else does?? (or does someone at ASU know something about him?)

What a wiener Kirk Herbstreit is.  Ohio State hasn't played anyone, but he def voted them #1

You can definitely see some agendas at work...

Writer from Oklahoma has us at #7, Ohio has us #5, Baton Rouge #5... it is in their interest to rank us as low as they can justify to give their teams more of an edge.

What I don't understand are these two:

Rich Kaipust (Omaha (NE) World-Herald) -5 (has WVA #2)

Mike Prater (Idaho Statesman) – 7 (has Florida #4)

Maybe they don't have televisions?  They might get all their football news via carrier pigeon.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
