I just heard that that was the most we have scored in our history.

Hmm, I guess they started at the end and were working back toward the beginning. Maybe they should have started at the other side. I don't think they would have had to go very far if they started at the 1997 season.

Obviously they're using the "ESPN College Football Encyclopedia," which says that Kentucky Wesleyan beat us 80-3 instead of us beating them in our inaugural game:

"USF played its first football game in 1997, as a Division I-AA program. Just before kickoff of its initial game, it was discovered it had no kicking tee, prompting motorcycle police officers to rush to a nearby sporting-goods store to pick one up. The Bulls proceeded to beat Kentucky Wesleyan 80-3 in that opener, but the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia states Kentucky Wesleyan won that game."

( see: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2007/09/10/SPVPS1TV2.DTL )

We probably scored more than 64 in another game along the way as well.

Not sure of the exact scores of the other two games, but this is from Greg's blog: With a 64-12 win, the Bulls had their fourth-largest margin of victory, putting UCF in the elite company of Kentucky Wesleyan (79-point loss), Cumberland (66) and Austin Peay (59). It's the second-worst loss in UCF history, bested only by a 69-0 loss to Virginia Military Institute in 1982.

Man, they really messed up that stat... if our margin of victory was higher in 3 other games than our total points in this game.  ::)

The ESPNU announcers also said UCF and USF used to be in the same conference.

Sure we were--at exactly the stroke of midnight on July 1, 2005 (or whenever we made the move to the Big East/they made the move to C-USA)
