I am just curious, as a season ticket holder do I have rights to purchase bowl game tickets?  How do the allotments work for the opposing schools?  If the bulls play a bowl in the SE, I will plan on attending.

Hi there,

Simple answer is, having season tickets will help you because you are establishing priority points within a donor level.  For more information, go here http://bullsclub.usf.edu/bullsclub/Priority%20Points.asp.

The important point here is you're establishing priority within a donor level.  So, someone in the $5,000 club trumps someone in the $1,000 club even if the $1,000 club member has more priority points.  Someone correct me if I explained incorrectly.  :)

If I remember right, two years ago, ticket purchases were done by appointment with your appointment time set according to your donor level.  Then, priority points within the level determined the seats you were assigned.  Last year, anyone could purchase tickets without an appointment, but your donor level and priority points established your seating location.

This is actually a pretty common system seen at most schools.  The only difference is at many of the other schools, you're talking a lot more money to get fewer benefits...

Hope this helps...

Oh, and one more thing -

This system is typically in place for the allotment of tickets designated for donors.  There are usually completely separate allotments for students, the alumni association, etc.

So, say the total allotment to USF is 20,000 tickets.  12,000 of those might be designated for donors, with the other 8,000 to the university for however they decide to break them up -- students, university personnel, alumni, etc.

Similar systems would be in place for opposing schools.

Oh no, when me and my wife bought the season tix at the spring game we got seats just out of the donor area due to the fact that we dont have the funds to be a donor at this point, we are just a couple years removed from graduating at USF.

The points for donations and all will ony come into play when demand exceeds supply.  May happen this year, has not happened previously.

As I understand it, all donors are given their priority points and are able to buy tickets.  This does not mean guaranteed tickets if demand exceeds supply.  Once the donors are done, season ticket holders are able to buy tickets, if in fact any are left over from donors.  Once those two groups are done then they are made available to the general public.

There may be other categories, but season ticket holders who did not make donations have had the opportunity the last 2 years to buy bowl game tickets.

Thanks for the clarification Sanjay; you're absolutely right...

A lot of this is new territory, so I'd guess we'll begin to hear something official once things become more clear on where we're headed...probably something very official if the Bulls are headed to a BCS game... ;D

If we get a BCS invite (we have a LONG way to go and let's not count any chickens) our allotment will be on the order of 17,000 tickets maybe more.  I imagine that everyone in the season ticket base who wants a ticket would be able to get one.

And even if you don't make donations, each year having tickets also helps.

I was wondering about HOW MANY we are allowed to buy if we are season ticket holders.

I called John Lewis.  When I asked him how many are we allowed to buy (asking specifically if there is a cap or rule on caps similar to season tickets), he said they haven’t gotten to the “Fall Procedures†yet and went on about how we won’t know anything like this yet.  I guess they determine something like that when they find out which bowl and our respective allotment.  At least that’s what he was alluding to.  He sounded really busy so I don’t know if there is more to this or not.

Can anyone add to this?

Last 2 years I think it was 8 per season ticket account.  Could be wrong.
