Louisville Upends No. 9 Bulls 1-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  The No. 9 University of South Florida men’s soccer team fell to the Louisville Cardinals on a goal in the 69th minute by forward Marco Terminesi.  The loss is just USF's second overall this season.

For the first time all year, the Bulls, 7-2-1 (2-2-1), were out-shot by an opponent.  UofL registered 13 shots to USF's five.  Junior midfielder Jordan Seabrook tallied two for the Bulls, while Bernardo Anor, Armante Marshall and Marc Doherty recorded one each.

"We played as good as we can play tonight," said head coach George Kiefer.  "I take my hat off to Louisville."

The Bulls went a man down early in the second half after defender Andre Mittoo was sent off with a red card following a hard take-down of the Cardinals' Aaron Clapham.

Terminisi's goal came a short time later on an unassisted one-on-one ball with goalkeeper Diego Restrepo that Louisville's leading scorer was able to get past the goalie.  Restrepo had stopped three shots on goal in the first period and an additional one in the second frame.

"The red card changed the game," continued Kiefer.  "I didn't have a good angle on it, but I was shocked to see it become a red card."

"Afterwards though, we mounted some good attacks and fought to the end."

The win is just the Cardinals', 6-4-0 (3-2-0), fourth over USF in the 18 matches between the two team all-time.

The Bulls have one remaining road match on their longest stint away from the USF Soccer Stadium.  The team will break from BIG EAST action in a Tuesday night game with cross-state rival FAU.  First-kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Boca Raton.
