They show it on TV because it's something you don't see (on camera) every day and they figure it will get people talking (see topic, this).

To me it seemed almost like a father/son moment.  Kind of a "THAT was stupid and you know it!  But I'll always love you and be here"

He also hugged him at the end of that exchange. A coach going after a player like that in full pads isn't that big of a deal I don't think. Maybe it will be seen as bad, but I think it was more of a young kid that needed some coaching. Leavitt didn't hit him, or grab him by the facemask and pull him around, so I don't think it will come up again.

Yeah i think the ESPN guys actually like it. CJL is intense!

Believe it or not, but Lou Holtz use to grab players by the face mask to tell them that they messed up while he was the coach at Notre Dame. It was so funny seeing little ol Lou Holtz grab some 300lbs football player by the mask and chew him out.  Leaviit does not want these penalties as he has stated over the past. Stupid penalties like that have been USF's achilles heel in the past. I am glad that we are not see that stuff for the most part this year.

The announcers said that the player tried to turn away from CJL so as to NOT get yelled at and CJL wasn't going to have any of that. Probably why he grabbed him by the jersey.

i remember seeing that and thought of coach kngith right away and then loved the fact that he did that.  CJL is awesome.

Um, no - Aside from wrinkling his jersey - no damage done. There are teams that only dream of having a coach with the kind of intensity that Jim has.

I thought it was a bad call.  Unless it was another hit I didn't see.

The ball was still live.  I don't think Darr knew it was such a horrible punt.  He was just blocking until the whistle.

Remember Leavitt is the Special Teams coach and that was a special teams play.  His intense reaction could have been a warning shot not only to the players but to the coaching staff as well to pick up the pace.  During the WVU game you can see him yelling at Canales on the sideline when there were 12 players on the field. I really do not feel that this was a big deal since he grabbed Darr by the jersey. I am just curious what Darr's parents said.

In the words of Coach Hawkins of Colorado, "This is Division I A football!!!"

Totally uncalled for..  Should be an investigation into the whole incident.  Student abuse is barbaric.

Opps - i was watching Sunday morning politics - you know where when anything happens we don't fix, we just investigate.

Gotta stop getting my sports and politics mixed up.
