the way it looked and SOUNDED with Ryan it doesnt seem like we will see him play again this year.  i hope thats not the case but he looked to be in some serious pain and the knee just doesnt seem like it should bend that way, specially when you that big.

as for Taylor, ESPN U first said he might have a broken ankle then the sideline reporter said that it looked more like a sprain and that Taylor said he was OK.

i doubt either will play next week but lets hope these guys are alright

leavitt said on big east teleconference today that schmidt is "doing OK" and "I think he'll be fine" ... he also suggested it was a toe injury and not an ankle, so who knows ...

I was sideline at the game. Taylor's injury was his ankle. They iced him down and he came back out in the 2nd half with the ankle taped and his cleats back on. He spent a few minutes on the stationary bike and then tested the ankle by running a few sprints. He was definitely favoring the ankle and grimaced as he ran. As far as Schmidt is concerned, it was either his ankle or his foot. I am more inclined to believe it was his ankle. I watched them carry him to the trainer's table where the placed ice on his ankle for the rest of the game. If I were to guess, I would say a high ankle sprain. Luckily, it was most definitely not his knee that was injured.

Yea both were ankle/foot injuries. I was on the 50 and right behind the trainers bench. Both got Ice on the Ankle area, Taylor tried sprinting it off later in the game. Schmidt was able to put some pressure on the leg. Both don't seem to be season ending.

use of ice on sideline and putting pressure on it does not 100% rule out fracture.  x-ray then possible ct scan needed if further suspicion. However, we do have very competant doctors and athletic trainers on the sideline who based on clinical examination are very able to asses what the athlete can do following injury. I'm sure further studies have been done by now and us fans will know soon enough.

I saw Jamar Taylor walking off the field at the end of the game as if nothing was hurt, so Im betting he'll be back next week.

Schmitt, not so much

greg gregory said FAU didn't have any X-ray equipment at the stadium, so they weren't able to do anything with x-ray diagnosis while down in fort lauderdale ...
