I saw it as well... I think something has to be done after this season. I'm not saying start building a stadium or anything, but... something. Try to re-work the RayJay deal or open a savings account for the stadium at least.

Let's build a dining hall, then start saving for the stadium.  The Rayjay deal is still too sweet to make building our own a good economic decision.  Building the dining hall will keep Leavitt happy... keep him happy longer = Leavitt stays coach longer.  That's what the coach wants, it would benefit all sports not just one, and it keeps the entire program headed in the right direction.

I have listened to Leavitt and a stadium is not coming soon.  In fact, I think Leavitt would push against it until we get a decent baseball and softball stadium. I actually think that is one of the most brilliant things Leavitt has said and done.  When asked about a stadium he refered to how great our softball program is and how awful their facilities were.  He realizes that if he is a consensus builder and shows respect for the other programs he can really build something special over there.  Most coaches would just blow of the other programs, but he realizes that a good baseball and softball team (and other programs) would be a big positive for the school.

Plus, the atmosphere at Ray Jay was great last week.  I do understand we are losing a ton of revenue on the ad front, the parking front, and the renting and leasing deal.

But we don't need a stadium right now.  We need a dining hall (which leavitt is going to get after this season), a baseball stadium, a softball stadium and a renovated Sun Dome.

Then we build a football stadium.

A 15 million dollar pay day from a BCS bowl berth could cure a lot of these ills.

Honestly, I think the past two guys are right. But the dinning facilities, indoor training facility, etc might come sooner if we weren't losing a lot of money to the TSA/Glazers (not sure which the money goes to).

Can the deal be re-worked and maybe give us a larger portion of that money (I don't know the specifics of the contract)?

I would love to see us build some decent basketball practice facilities.

Our basketball program really doesn't have much to work with.

Why the knock on Richt he would definitely play anybody anytime any place.  That is as long as it makes sense for Georgia and by that I mean playing a major Powerhouse so that winning makes you look good and losing doesn't ruin the program ala Michigan losing to App State.  You don't play certain teams for strategic reasons that's why Leavitt doesn't want to continue the series with UCF (it does nothing to move the program forward).  For USF the UCF series is a no win situation.  If you win your suppose to (who cares) but if you lose it hurts the program.

I still don't understand the need for an on campus stadium, the money we lose to Glazer and TSA we would still lose if we had our own on-campus stadium paying employees, keeping up on maintenance, making repairs, etc. Raymond James Stadium is one of the nicest stadiums in the NFL, and we want to throw it away just so Florida and Florida State fans stop talking crap? I've been to the swamp, yet the atmosphere at that West Virginia game was much better than the atmosphere at any Gators game i've been to and it is a much better stadium by far. Plus there is parking right on site.
