I love this kid and this is not meant as a dig but actually as a compliment.

I was watching channel 8 and saw excerpt's of the press conference and it is clear to me that Matt is just a normal kid who wants just to play football hunt and fish and just does not care about the spotlight.

I brought some friend from Orlando to the WVU game and they had been to UCif games as our company has free tickets and they were saying before the game that they read up on Grothe and liked him because they felt he was just a good kid from Lakeland who loved to play ball and enjoyed being outdoors. I had never given it much thought before then. BTW they love the Bulls and will be at all the games; those UCif tickets are available and have been since Texas and they were bought/forced on us from working on the stadium and we thought we could give them to clients.

I only bring this up because I find it really nice and because I am sure some people will try to bash him for not being so media savvy. How refreshing is it in this day and age to see a player that wants to win and play and does not seem worried about how he will look on ESPN on SC.

The best line ever is "my parents were worried about my hair cut but its my head" not verbatim but close and priceless.

Mr and Mrs Grothe you guys did a great job and I hope the new press being shown to USF does not get too harsh or unbearable.

I totally agree. I am a hunter as well, so I may have a little more bais than most, but I like listening to his quotes. I think the proper analogy is "deer in the headlights".

You can tell he is uncomfortable with it, but he still does a good job. Seems like a humble kid off the field. You can tell when he is on the field he is confident. Perfect QB attitude as I see it.

I think in the coming years, he is going to continue to be a great leader for this team, and I don't see all of the media attention going to his head. As you said, great job by the Grothe parents. Just tell him to watch out for getting framed. I hope that snitch that bought the beer can't walk around campus without getting ridiculed.

I think it's great that he goes fishing or does non-football things when he has Saturday's off.

Off the field there is not much to say about Grothe. On the field is a different story, with the speed USF has at the WR position, Grothe needs to make the WR go get the ball and not throw it right at the WR all the time.  I still have concerns about his mechanics. But we will see over the next couple of weeks.
