"I really think people have come to understand South Florida is the real deal," said Arbuckle, a former Colts teammate of Jesse Hester, father of USF receiver Jesse Hester Jr. of Belle Glade. "But they can't rely on the defense to come up with five or six turnovers every game. At some point, you'd like to see the offense break out."

it's true, people want to see a complete game before giving us "full" credit. obviously it's a good sign that we're ranked #6 despite our offense, but imagine if we had some real firepower.

We do have fire power.  Our offense is very good...they just didn't do a great deal against WVU.  WVU's defense was pretty good IMO.  They hit pretty hard that night and held a good offense (us) to only a couple of TDs and 273 yards of total offense.

Not every game is perfect where both the offense and defense dominates.

I prefer to blame our offensive shortcomings on Friday to a strong defensive effort by WVU. Aside from the interceptions which were all Matt, they did a fine job of forcing fumbles and getting stops.

I don't think they were the greatest throws, but our receivers have to be more aggressive. TJ watched the second pick. I think I saw him having a beer and eating a hot dog while taking in the show. The ball was tipped straight up in the air, and he watched the safety pick it off. At worst, he could have tackled the guy before he got to the ball.

All of the drops are going to kill us. Matt is being forced to throw the ball in throwing situtations (third and long) because we are dropping passes that would get good gains on first and second downs. I think Grothe has had a phenomenal year so far with respect to making good decisions. As he matures a little, some of the long sacks will stop and he will throw the ball away, but he isn't generally forcing anything. Not sure what happened with the fumbles against UNC, but that isn't going to be an issue.

I think both picks last week could have been prevented if the receivers go up and fight for the ball.

The fact that this discussion even exists in 2007 is nothing short of amazing, imo.

Leavitt is doing a great job with these kids.
