Did anyone catch Genshaft's article in today’s Oracle (below)?  My guess Woolard and Genshaft are going to create an athletic village similar to what UCF has built.  Using state money to get Leavitt’s dinning hall and create an area to house all the USF student athletes.  Do you think this is the intent???

"Genshaft said she recently approved plans to build a new residential complex, which will house 1,500 students, a dining hall and a fitness center. She said it will be built on the Tampa campus, but did not specify the exact location or cost."

All Leavitt wants is a dinning hall. I don't think it's too much to ask.

I think she's refering to the new dorms that are going to be built out by the enginner buildings...next to the Magnolia dorms.  I know they're building a parking garage out there now, and I believe the plans had a dining hall in the new dorms...

Didn't they just open a new dorm and call it "Stadium Hall"?

Is it anywhere near a very large piece of vacant land?

GO BULLS!

That dorm building is apparently going to be huge. They have the whole Magnolia parking lot fenced off for the dorm. The parking garage next to engineering is definitely a monster. Makes quite a mess for all the people that normally parked in those lots (engineering, chemistry, physics, etc.)

i'll bet they would put em where phase II of the greek village is supposed to go... i don't see more greek houses going up so it makes sense to take care of the athletes.

These are the dorms they're talking about...

I'm not sure how many they're building, but when everything is said and done there will be four dorms there. It's on the 10 year plan.

i agree. besides - one strong gust of wind and those so called houses will be toast. A real athletic village would look beautiful there. Or turn the houses into special interest houses..... it could happen in a few years (15 i think) when the leases expire.....

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
