I figured some of you all who are interested in local HS football may be interested in this.

I know that its early to start talking next year but... Joel Miller, former Wharton High School standout running back (who led hillsborough county in rushing in 2005/2006) transferred from the Citadel to USF at the beginning of this semester. He is planning on walking onto the team in the spring. I know that he is planning on changing positions to DB because of our depth at running back. He is quick, runs a 4.55 forty and is pretty motivated. I know he has spoke with Leavitt already and plans on coming in at over 200 lbs. What are his chances of making the team?

the more the merrier but it would probably take a lot of hard work and that "speed" isnt fast enough to play corner in big time college football

4.55 won't cut it to play corner at USF...........maybe in '97 but not now.

He said DB, which would include safety.  But hey, let's just tell the guy he can't play before he actually tries.

If he's athletic, im sure CJL can find a spot somewhere on the team for him.

Thats too slow even for safety here now.

Nate Allen runs sub 4.5 according to Mike Jenkins.

Tell him to gain 25 lbs and not lose any speed and he might get a look at LB.

How tall is he by the way?

Best bet for him is at special teams. I myself will try to walk on when i get into college but, im not big but can play solid ball. 5'9 190 about a 4.5 in the forty. Its tough to be a walk on b/c recruits get the look before you.

id say hes 5`10 or 5`11. I don't think he was looking to be a corner. More of a safety. I don't think he would step on the field for at least 2 years.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
