Xavier Lee and several other FSU recent RB's (Leon Washington, etc) were highly touted and now look at em. Also: Carlton Hill :P

Our coaches do a great job at finding diamonds in the rough.

I still think a couple 4-5 star recruits WITH proven talent would put us over.

Does that idiot realize that Taurus Johnson was a UF commit and then decommitted when Zook was fired.

He mentions that UCF and FAU offered Taurus Johnson like those were his only offers.

Taurus had offers from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. I guess those are no name schools and FSU, Miami and UF wouldn't be interested in a kid like that. These writers are so F****** Dumb!

if we can make Armwood and Lakeland HS our pipeline, that'd be great.

Those schools are nice, but right now Miami Northwestern is the best school in the nation. I would love to get a pipeline to them

Selvie has always been listed on Rivals as a 2 star recruit.

THe rankings are unimportant and that the writer says all our players weren't offered by other schools is completely ridiculous. Maybe they weren't offered by the big three-- how many are though? Not many-- maybe 30 a season.

300+ kids get 1-A scholies every year out of Florida-- there is no way they can all go to in state schools. We get our fair share of quality players-- but very few guys come in freshman year and play right away anyway. It's what the coaches do with them once they start training that makes them develop into workable cogs in Leavitt's system. Not everyone pans out. THe difference between some kid with amazing stats and accolades in HS and what they turn into as an adult 4 or 5 years later really can change quite a bit. So we grab up the kids with great chaacter-- work ethic-- and most importantly SPEED. Speed is the one thing that is hard to teach or train.

anyway-- silly article but pub nonetheless.

Remember there are about 150 scholarships for athletes at the 3 big schools.  With USF's rise there will be about 200 now - we are now counted in the big 4!

Well... there are 85 per team, so that's 255 with the Big 3 and 340 with USF... but each school is allowed to offer only 25 per year, so that means only 75 of the 300+ I-A caliber players in Florida can go to UF,FSU, or UM.  Moreover, those three recruit on a national level... with several players per year coming from out of state.

Let's be honest here, when it comes to recruiting in FL there are some rules etched in stone:

#1.  The Miami/Belle Glades kids WILL go to the "U".  I'd love to poach them, but for those kids the "U" is the school of choice.

#2.  UF calls its shots throughout the state.  The top kids, outside of the aforementioned "U" athletes, will want to go to G-ville.

With that said, this is the future:

---USF is going to decimate FSU recruiting (Ol' Bobby just aint what he used to be).

---Georgia Tech might as well not even come down to scout anymore.

---The way the program is going everyone knows full well that USF is like an active volcanoe emerging from the oceans.  USF is the new powerhouse.

---ND will never play us (and you can add Michigan to that list). ;)

You betcha the rivals "stars" ratings are very accurate.

And if you believe that, then you must know that Coach Leavitt can shoot lightning from his eyes and fire balls from his arse...
