Last time out against FAU was at the community stadium in 2002 and the Bulls won handily...that really means little now, but it is history.

This year's FAU team:

Category              National Rank

Rushing Defense         62

Pass Efficiency Defense 89

Total Defense               90

Scoring Defense       T-92

Sacks                         T-89

Tackles For Loss           97

by and large a defense in the bottom quartile of teams formerly known as DI-A.  Giving up an average of 32 points per game, holding only Middle Tennessee State and North Texas to less than 39 points.

Stats are shaping up for a breakout game for Grothe and the receiving corps I hope.  Would love to see the passing game gel Saturday.

I hope so.  The stat I noticed was FAU is only converting roughly 36% of 3rd Downs.  On the flip side, FAU is giving up 52% of 3rd Down Conversions.  So, if MG and the offense take what the Owls Defense gives them, USF should be able to dink and dunk themselves down the field without much of a problem.  Very similar to the UNC game in that aspect.  Just hoping all of our players take this game seriously by handling our business on the field, and head back to Tampa with no major injuries.

Go Bulls!!!

I say it's now or never.

If they can't rack up 40-50 points and 400-500 total yards against FAU, something is VERY wrong.

And please, none of this "running the clock out" when we get up by three TD's.

Our offense needs to use this game as kind of a scrimmage by which they can get things N*SYNC (did you like what I just did there?).

If we get up by 21 points or so, if we're still in the first half, I say we POUR IT ON.  Then let Gregory start the second half, but OPEN IT UP to see what the kid can really do.  We know he can run and hand off, let's see what kind of passer he is.

I dont think we can afford the conservative approach when we get up by 2 scores or more at this point.  If we play a team close that we shouldnt we will most certainly suffer in the rankings because we aren't a household name.  When we got a chance to run it up a bit we need to take advantage of it.  Im all for playing a bit conservative against teams that are on our level but playing conservative Vs a team like FAU would only hurt us.  We got the killer instinct on defense now its time to develop it on offense starting with FAU.

We need BLOWOUTS if we want to increase our presence with recruits.  No one will talk about a 10-14 point victory in the local highschools against FAU.  Now, if a WR or RB or QB sees one of the guys on USF at his position rip off 3TDs and get loads of pubs, then he'll start to dream that could be him.

That's how you get a kid to want to come here.  Make him wish it was him scoring all those TDs, forcing all those fumbles, etc.

Plus, it makes it easier for him to brag about USF calling on him.

In regards to pouring on the points just to look better, one word:  karma.

UF kept throwing the ball versus Tennessee late in the game and you saw what happened to them against AU.

Rutgers kept Rice and Teel in games late just to blow teams out, and look what happened to them versus Maryland.

Karma people.

Go Bulls!!!

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
