Owls face familiar foe

Florida Atlantic linebacker Cergile Sincere labels the daily calls back and forth with players he knows on South Florida's roster "friendly fire."

"It's trash talking, but nothing nasty," said Sincere, who is from Belle Glade, as are USF defensive lineman Woody George and wide receivers Jessie Hester Jr. and Jamaal Jenkins.

"I congratulated them, too," Sincere said. "They are doing big things, and I look forward to playing them."

Sincere has 43 tackles and knows the Owls' defense faces a tough test.

"They know what they are doing out there, and the quarterback can hurt you with his arm and his feet," said Sincere, referring to the Bulls' Matt Grothe, who is averaging 32 yards rushing and 197 passing.

Had to chuckle when I read this. When I lived down south before leaving for college I used to work with Cerge at the Athlete's Foot in the Boca Town Center. Great guy and have been following ever since. This kid is all over the field and reminds me a lot of Stephen Nicholas.
